A linen cap doesn’t have a stretch panel or a foam liner to forgive an imprecise size - it’s leather, brass, and hand-finished linen, so getting the size right matters more than it would with a synthetic snapback. Here’s what you need to know before you order, and how to look after the cap once it arrives.
Finding your size
| Size | Head circumference |
|---|---|
| S | 54–57 cm / 21.3–22.4” |
| M | 56–59 cm / 22.0–23.2” |
| L | 58–61 cm / 22.8–24.0” |
To measure at home: wrap a soft tape measure around your head about an inch above your ears and eyebrows - roughly where a cap naturally sits. No tape measure on hand? A piece of string works; measure the string against a ruler afterward. If you land between two sizes, we’d lean toward sizing up: the fit is relaxed and low-profile by design, not a snug athletic fit, and the leather strap gives a small amount of adjustment within each size rather than across sizes.
Caring for the linen
Hand-wash only in cold water (max 30°C / 86°F). Do not machine wash, bleach, or tumble dry.
Hand-washing, step by step
- Fill a clean basin with cold water (max 30°C / 86°F) and add a small amount of mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics.
- Submerge the cap and gently work water through the fabric. Do not scrub, wring, or twist it. Treat spots gently with your fingertips.
- Rinse in clean cold water until all detergent is removed.
- Press the cap between clean towels to remove excess water. Do not wring it.
- While the cap is damp, reshape the crown and brim by hand. Rest the crown over a rounded surface, such as a bowl, while it dries.
Air-dry in a well-ventilated, shaded place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Allow 12 - 24 hours to dry fully before wearing or storing.
Leather strap and brass buckle
- Wipe the leather strap dry after rain or sweat; do not submerge it.
- If the leather feels dry, apply a neutral leather conditioner sparingly.
- Wipe the brass buckle dry after washing. A natural patina is normal; avoid prolonged exposure to salt water.
Storage and natural creasing
- Hang the cap by its strap or store it in a box. For long-term storage, lightly fill the crown with tissue paper to help it keep its shape.
- Keep the cap dry and avoid crushing it. Do not store it while damp.
One thing worth knowing: linen creases. That’s the fiber, not a flaw. A crease that relaxes when you wear the cap is normal; a crushed, flattened crown that doesn’t spring back is what proper storage prevents.
This guide applies to all eleven colorways - the construction is identical across every one. See the full linen cap collection.
