Can a Premium Linen Cap Be Worth €70? What You Actually Pay For

Linen cap panels laid out on a worktable beside a finished cap held by hand.

Short answer: yes - if you want a cap with an understated design and premium quality that grows softer and more pleasant to wear over time, and whose maker is known by name for its quality, not for the number of loud logos.

The answer is no if you are looking for a cheap cap that you wouldn't mind stuffing into a pocket or tossing into a beach bag.

My name is Kateryna. I am the founder of the factory behind CacheMio, and I want to explain what the €70 is made of and tell you when a CacheMio cap is not the best choice.

First, an honest answer

€70 for a premium handmade linen cap is more than a cheap supermarket cap, but considerably less than the large luxury brands ask for a comparable linen model (often several times more). A cap is a small thing, so its price has to be justified. I want to show you the reasons rather than ask you to take our word for it.

What the €70 pays for

Fabric. The whole cap - outside and lining - is 100% linen. The flax is grown in Italy, the fabric is woven in Lithuania, and each piece is cut and sewn in Kyiv, Ukraine. 80% of the production is handwork by bespoke-level craftspeople. Three countries in one cap, and in each of them the stage of work that is done best there, by people who love what they do. Read our story.

Tailoring. Run your thumb along the visor - can you feel it? Perfectly smooth: you won't find a stitch line there. The seams are hidden, there are no ventilation holes in the crown, and there is no logo at all. Each of these decisions removes a detail that usually catches the eye; fewer visible elements means the attention goes to the inner finishing and the quality of the work. And this is not a way of making it cheaper - on the contrary, leaving out each of those elements of cheap caps makes the cap harder to make, more refined and elusively stylish.

Hardware. A strap of Italian leather and a solid brass buckle. No plastic, no Velcro. These are the only metal elements on the cap, and they are not there for nothing - they do a job.

Uniqueness. No color line is ever repeated exactly; we value the uniqueness and individuality of our customers. I don't ask the mill to keep a shade identical: even when I need, say, lemon for a new batch, it will be similar, but the shade will always differ.

Maker. The cap is sewn directly by my own manufacturing company, which has been in business since 2000. We sell it directly through this site. More about that here.

Delivery. All delivery costs are included in the price of the cap.

What you don't pay for. A logo, an advertising campaign, or a "sale" whose prices were inflated beforehand. We don't hold sales: the price in March is the same as in September.

What to expect from this cap

I want you to hear this from me.

  • It is soft, not stiff. The crown has a relaxed, easy shape. If you prefer a stiff front, it is better to choose another model.
  • It has no ventilation holes. Linen "breathes" thanks to the weave of the fabric, but this is not a sports cap - it is a stylish everyday cap that you can put on for the office or for a romantic walk with someone you love.
  • Linen creases - that is the nature of the material. What matters is that the cap keeps its shape.
  • It must be washed by hand: gently, at no more than 30°C, then dried in the shade. No machine washing, bleach, tumble dryers or wringing. It takes just a few minutes. Full care guide.

Cost per wear

If you wear the cap 30 days every summer for three years, one wear comes to less than €0.80. This is only an example, not a guarantee: how long a piece lasts depends on how it is cared for. We can say only one thing: this cap is made to be worn often, not saved for special occasions.

Who it is for, and who it is not

It will suit you if you prefer to own few things, but stylish and of high quality; if you dislike logos; if you travel light in summer; or if you are looking for a gift that doesn't draw attention. As one of our customers said about our cap: "refined, understated style."

You should choose another model if you need a cheap cap for the gym or the beach, if you want a stiff front, or if you prefer things you can machine-wash.
